About the Course
Safety is a whole life cycle issue that cannot be achieved by simply introducing prescriptive rules or directives to be followed by operational employees. It encompasses most of the activities of the organisation.
Early identification of safety issues and assessment of the safetycriticality of a system are valuable in preventing costly incidents and accidents. Catastrophic accidents have shown that for many organisations, the entire process of analysing, specifying, developing and deploying safety-critical systems needs improvement.
This practical course will explain the basic principles underlying Safety Management Systems (SMS) and the unique challenges in implementing and maintaining an effective system.
Participants will learn that a SMS is a proactive approach to safety that emphasises prevention and risk control before adverse events occur.
